BBQ Show On TLC

Came across this TV show on The Learning Channel. It's a reality show about competition barbeque.

http://tlc.discovery.com/tv/bbq-pitmasters/

Lots of interesting tips these guys are giving away. Sometimes competition bbq-ers won't share any tips with you. These guys are part chef, part athlete & part 5-star General. Cool. And I don't doubt for a second that it's very competitive. This is NOT grilling hot dogs & hamburgers.

Oh, and follow your dreams.

Getcha Popcorn Ready

Well, it's finally football training camp time. The mandatory mini-camp is underway & I can hardly wait for the season to start.

Getcha Popcorn Ready - we'll have to add popcorn to our usual football menu of pizza, wings & beer.

Labbatt's Porter, And Federal Meats Bacon/Cheddar Patties

We've all heard of Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. Combining peanut butter with chocolate, makes for a good candy.

Well, I found 2 other great tastes that go great together: Labbatt's Porter beer, and Bacon/Cheddar hamburger patties from Federal Meats. And of course, the hamburgers are grilled, with mesquite smoking chips.

There was recently a sale on the Labbatt's Porter at the local beverage center. Buy one 6-pack, get one free. This made it a tempting offer.

Federal Meats has lots of cool little specialties, and these bacon & cheddar hamburgers are great. The only thing I don't like is they only come frozen, so I'm going to try my own recipe made from fresh ingredients someday soon.

I used Kingford Mesquite chips. I also grilled up some sausages at the time.

The only thing wrong with this taste combo is when you switch back to regular burgers & beer. You take a taste and say "What the hell is this? I gotta get the good stuff again."

Labatt's Beer To Stay In Buffalo

As a native of the Western New York Area, around Buffalo, NY, I've found Labatt's beer is very good. Here's an article about the company that brings us such a delicious alternative to more ordinary beers.

Beer. It's not just for dumb-asses any more.

New Beer To Try

I read about this beer brewery on a blog. Stone Brewing is the name. The specific brew was the Stone Ruination IPA (India Pale Ale). I was able to find it locally, but it was $18 for a 6-pack ! ! ! So I opted for the cheaper (only $12 a 6) Pale Ale. WOW!!! Talk about a good beer. Lots of flavor and somewhat smooth. I think this could be my favorite beer if I suddenly had more money.
I also tried some Yuengling Black & Tan beer. Much cheaper. Not as good, but still ok for those times when you're not loaded with cash.

Time For Some Beer - take 2

I've been a fan of JW Dundee beer for a long time. They recently changed their labels and name. Now they just go by Dundee beer.

Here are some pictures of three of their excellent specialty brews. They are quite good IMHO. I'm not so sure about the new labels, with all the cartoon characters, but then again it's just a label.
This beer is also not too expensive, at least not at Consumer's Beverages. For a brand of beer that tastes this good, and has so many different types of beer, good deal I say.
The only problem with this beer is when you go back to some ordinary beer after drinking a couple of these. Regular beer just doesn't seem the same.

Time For Some Beer

OK People - Time For Some Beer!!!

The last few weeks I have sampled some good beer. I took a chance on something called Shipyard beer. I was hoping it would not taste like a shipwreck. I was not disappointed! Good beer.

The beer was good.
I sampled some during a recent Buffalo Bills football game.
The beer was good. The Bills were bad. The Bills looked like a SHIPWRECK! The beer was quite tasty.
The Bills are in business making lots of money. I hope the company that makes Shipyard beer is doing at least as good.
Well, there's always the Sabres...
