Introducing Lemmy On Bass & Vocals

Hey, What's up people???

Tonight I'd like to introduce one of my favorite BASS PLAYERS of all time. Yes, I mean ALL-TIME because this guy has been around since the 60's. He was actually one of the roadies for Jimi Hendrix. He is around 63 years old now, and he is ugly as all hell. Somehow ugly works for him.

I remember hearing about Motorhead when I was a little kid. That's when the tune "The Ace Of Spades" came out, their most well-known tune (and most despised tune by the do-gooders in the world).

One reason he's my favorite bass player is because he happens to also be a lead singer. He's got those big moles on his face and he makes it look like he's a big friggin' teddy bear of cool. He seems like a cool guy when you see videos of him. He just does not seem to be a mean dude, even though a lot of his lyrics are tough-guy stuff. And the tattoos on his arms are cool.

He wrote the lyrics for the song Ozzy Osbourne did - "Mama I'm Comin' Home", which was a big hit for the Oz-ster. Lemmy said he made more money off the royalties for that song than all the money he ever made playing in Motorhead.

I once thought about getting a tatoo of the Motorhead mascott, snaggle-tooth.

His Wikipedia entry says he's had sex with over 1000 women. Wow, that must be alot of Valentine's Day cards to send out. Image the postage! Maybe that's how he got all those moles on his face. From burying his face you-know-where.

LEMMY - FROM MOTORHEAD ! ! ! ! ! !

Rock on.

Cool BBQ media site

Hey, what's up?

I want you to see a BBQ video site I have watched for quite a while now. It's great, and you don't need to register or pay any money for, or trade your 1st child for, etc, etc, etc.

http://championshipbbq.tv/bbq/

Plus Stumps Smokers grills are cool.

One other thing: I saw a great charcoal smoker/grill at Lowes the other day. It's got the Royal Oak brand name on it, and it has room for an optional side smoker so it becomes an offset smoker. Almost bought it on impulse. The only thing was: they had the grill in-stock, but not the side box. It was "only" $320 bones. Maybe this weekend...

Barbeque rules.

Happy 30th Blog Post - Let's BBQ ! ! !

Oh how I love my Weber kettle grill. It's good for grilling, and for smoking, as in cooking food over a wood fire with plenty of smoke chips that is.

I'm so sick of winter, let's pretend it's summer. BBQ time !

Finally, I can upload a new video to BlogSpot. Woo-Hoo!

Here's a shot of the kettle with cover on and smoke flavor cookin' away.

Well I'm glad I could finally cook up some sausages with hickory smoke chips. I was so excited to see the temperature go above the freezing point that I just had to BBQ.

I do not see a need to wait for spring to BBQ. I don't care if people stare, BBQ is for all seasons. Plus Johnsonville Brats are available at my local convenience store. No excuses any more.

Here's my chimney starter in action. Great tool for starting charcoal or briquettes.

Vehicle Maintenance 101 - Changing The Air Filter

Oh how I love my truck. It's reliable, looks good, doesn't hog too much gas, and it's nice & warm inside the truck in the winter. All I need to do is baby it once in awhile. Yesterday I took it to the do-it-yourself car wash and washed all the nasty salt off it. Today - new air filter.

All you need is a simple flat-head screwdriver - sweet. Only 4 screws to un-do.

Wow, what a dirty piece of crap! That's good though, since this is the job of the filter, to suck up all the dirt. Kind of like the National Inquirer.
The old filter is on the left, the new one on the right.
No need to let your filters get dirty. Learn to change the basic ones and you'll be wiser to the things needed to help the vehicle last longer and run better.
Same goes with your furnace filter, if you have a forced-air furnace like I have. I replaced that filter yesterday. I didn't think to take pictures. A clean air filter on a furnace is a must.

Vintage Computing - Atari 800

My, how time flies. It seems like just yesteryear that I played with Atari computers like it was the best thing since the integrated circuit chip. Since then I've used many other computers. There will still always be a special place in my heart for old supposedly obsolete computers however. Some may call this computer "not Scottish" (i.e. like the saying "If it's not Scottish, it's CRAP!") but I think it's just a beautiful machine full of innovation for it's time. AND IT STILL WORKS !!! It must be close to 30 years old.

I can boot it up.

It runs a BASIC programming language cartidge.

It plays, Defender, PacMan, and Centipede!!!

Here's how they installed memory in the good ol' days. They stuffed a bunch of chips into what looks like an Atari cartridge (for good reason - it's an Atari cartidge) then they plugged it into an Atari cartidge socket. What a great idea!!

I seem to have what they call a later Atari 800 computer. It has 48 kilobytes of RAM memory (yes, I said KILO bytes, not mega or giga, like any real computer today) plus I've never had this so-called 'heating issue' with it. That is, it's never overheated since I've owned it, no matter how long I leave it on, doing something productive. Like calculating long math equations with no end, even though I don't need to know the answer, like they teach in traditional math classes in school. There was some kind of overheating issue with the first Atari 800 computers. They fixed it by the time they pumped out 48 KByte machines.

I have a cartidge of the Defender game. This was one of my favorites when I was a young lad. It still plays on this old, but VINTAGE computer.

I tried to upload a video of this game running, but as usual, I'm having trouble uploading video to blogspot.com even though I can upload to anyone else with no trouble.

Tortelloni

Here's a dish I've had out at restaurants before. I decided to try cooking some on my own. I got the ready-to-boil pack at Wegman's. Just my style of cooking.
Pork, Prosciutto & Parmesian.
It came out pretty good. I used Chef's brand pasta sauce. Not bad for a jar sauce, but still a jar sauce.
I think I'll be making this again using a homemade sauce.
I think I'll be making anything hot today - woke up to -6 degrees (fahrenheit) - nice.

New Beer To Try

I read about this beer brewery on a blog. Stone Brewing is the name. The specific brew was the Stone Ruination IPA (India Pale Ale). I was able to find it locally, but it was $18 for a 6-pack ! ! ! So I opted for the cheaper (only $12 a 6) Pale Ale. WOW!!! Talk about a good beer. Lots of flavor and somewhat smooth. I think this could be my favorite beer if I suddenly had more money.
I also tried some Yuengling Black & Tan beer. Much cheaper. Not as good, but still ok for those times when you're not loaded with cash.
