Coffee Has Its Own Universe

Here's a coffee site. It appears to have it's own universe. Cool.

Must be some kind of parallel universe, alongside our universe.

Oh, and follow your dreams.

Cool.

Homeowner DIY - New Toy

Well I finally had to break down and buy a new week-wacker. I figured I would go on-the-cheap and get a Feather-Light one. It was on sale cheap, $64.

The only assembly required was to put the little shroud on, the thing that attaches to the end where the string wacker wheel is.

I like the 3-way choke - 2-stroke engines seem to always need a minute or so to warm up before they run at full power. The medium setting on the choke proves somewhat useful in keeping the engin sputtering along until it's warmed up.

Here's a nice close-up of the back of the engine. It's a 25cc engine.

GRILL IT!

Here's a new book I recently received as a gift.

Bobby Flay's GRILL IT! book.

I like the ! in the title. Makes it sound more intense.

It is quite an interesting book. He starts out by explaining basic ideas, like direct vs. indirect grilling - which is quite basic really, but so many people don't realize it.
Looks like it's not quite done yet there Bobby!

He also mentions basic gear to have, controlling heat, storing stuff so it's safe and fresh, and stuff like that. Then, tons of recipes. Then at the end, sources for getting food, spices, woods/charcoal and other supplies.
I'll have to decide what to cook first. Probably beef.

PASTA!!!! Cookbook

A recently aquired pasta cookbook - I'll have to get this first picture rotated somehow.
Quite an interesting book. I'm learning how pasta is made, which is good, since I eat pasta all the time.
Plus lots of pictures. Hey, my kinda book!

Pasta, Risoto, Rice.
Fresh pasta vs. dried.
How to make ravioli.
Lasagna.

One of my favorite types of pasta is anything with tomato or green stuff in it. The tri-colored pastas have been a favorite of mine.

Well, this is going to take some time to read and digest...
Oh, and follow your dreams.

Jim Beam - Choice Bourbon

I happened to find a nice surprise recently while visiting the local liquor store - Jim Beam's Choice label, for their Kentucky Bourbon Whiskey.

I like the regular white label Jim Beam as it is, so I tried out the Choice version. Very good stuff.
7 generations of family distillers.
They show guys with the last name Beam, up until the most recent guys at the bottom of the label. Now they're named Noe.

Here's a link to the Wikipedia entry.
They also have a Jim Beam Black version, which I do not have pictures of at the moment. That stuff is also quite good.

Tonight - Pork Chops

Tonight I thought I'd post another foodie-type posting. It's been awhile.

I got some pork chops, center-cut with the bone still there, from Federal Meats.

The Feds seem to have some great cuts of meat whenever I visit.

Here I have a couple pork chops seasoned with McCormick's Grill Mates BBQ seasoning.

These were quite delicious. I also cooked a small Chicken Cordon Blue (or is it Bleue?) from Federal that I did not take pictures of. It was also great.
Sure beats McDonald's.

The Newest Star Trek Movie - Could It Be Good?

Well the newest Star Trek movie is finally out. Wow, it actually looks like it lacks all the usual seriousness, standing around discussing philosophy and what is right and wrong, what is best for humanity and civilization, etc, etc, etc. It looks like they've taken Star Trek's characters, which are all excellent enough when seen in a boring movie, and given them some action, passion, and excitement. This is going to piss off alot of Trekkies. However, it looks exciting. It boldly goes where no Star Trek has gone before.

Hello, and welcome to my blog post about a new toy I just got.

It's a combination of 2 things I am really into - little electronic handheld gadgets, and NASCAR!!!

It's a little handheld car racing game.
It has sound, which can be turned off in case you are playing it somewhere where you're not supposed to play games.

It's made to look like an arcade game, in miniature form.

It even has the official NASCAR laser-sticker thingee.
It's fun for awhile. It's not the greatest actual racing game, but I like the fact that the game allows my car to be the fastest car on the track, if I can only keep it on the track. You can keep racing until you screw up too many times.

I should really get a real handheld game. I heard Nintendo has a new handheld out. I may just be buying it soon...
